Our security systems are more than just alarms to protect against intruders. Most of us are fortunate enough to live in relatively safe neighborhoods where the intrusion part of the system is more of a deterrent. The first category is life safety, where smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors ring an immediate alarm warning of a dangerous condition. Next, we add water sensors to key areas such as under the dishwasher, in bathrooms, and near water pipes in the basement to sound the alert if there’s a leak…or worse. Some of the biggest home repairs occur when a leak turns into a lake.
Other sensors detect temperature swings, both high and low. It’s equally problematic if your air conditioning breaks while you are out of town, as when the heat stops working and pipes freeze then rupture. Our temperature and water sensors stay on the alert to let you know something’s amiss. If a problem is detected, the sensors are part of your smart home system which sends a text message to you and your designated repair company.
